The updates will mean Twitter's search returns will soon contain posts dating back longer than a week whereas previously Twitter's returns only displayed tweets posted within the last seven days. The update will be rolled out over the coming days with Twitter using various methods of prioritising search returns, according to Paul Burstein, search infrastructure engineer at Twitter...

Twitter Buys Company That Mines Chatter About TV

Twitter confirmed on Tuesday that it was acquiring Bluefin Labs, a company that analyzes online chatter about TV shows and companies and sells its findings. Twitter is paying nearly $100 million for Bluefin, according to a person with direct knowledge of the sale, making it the Web site's biggest acquisition to date. The person insisted on anonymity because the terms of the deal were not disclosed publicly.
