Yahoo Reveals Advertising Deal With Google

The world of online advertising is in a tizzy. First Google revamps its AdWords model with enhanced advertising campaigns, and now Yahoo has announced that it's teaming with Google. The Cupertino, Calif.-based corporation confirmed yesterday that it's formed a new partnership with Google for "contextual advertising." This basically translates to targeted advertising in which online ads displayed on Yahoo's digital properties better relate to what the user is looking at currently as well as past search and content patterns.

Twitter Buys Company That Mines Chatter About TV

Twitter confirmed on Tuesday that it was acquiring Bluefin Labs, a company that analyzes online chatter about TV shows and companies and sells its findings. Twitter is paying nearly $100 million for Bluefin, according to a person with direct knowledge of the sale, making it the Web site's biggest acquisition to date. The person insisted on anonymity because the terms of the deal were not disclosed publicly.

Six out of 10 small business owners say they believe social media tools are valuable to their company's growth, but most aren't impressed by Twitter. Just 3 percent of 835 business owners surveyed earlier this month by The Wall Street Journal and Vistage International said Twitter had the most potential to help their companies.
